"Rubin H Landau, professor of physics (center), is congratulated by OSU President Paul Risser and OSUAA President Denny Miles after receiving the OSU Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award for 1999. Landau was honored for his contributions to the field of computational physics since joining the university in 1974. A pioneer in the use of computers in physics, he is known for the creative "computer physics" course he designed for OSU, as well as for a textbook on quantum mechanics used extensively throughout the world. He is an active teacher and designer of physics computer courses linking Oregon and California graduate schools."
