Brief Biography:

MS - Statistics/Computer Science: University of Louisiana at Lafayette, 1971
BS - Mathematics: Northwestern State University - Louisiana, 1968

Haerer has been working with Dr. Rubin Landau, Professor of Physics, and has contributed to his new text, A First Course in Scientific Computing , published by Princeton University Press, 2005. It is available for use in college classrooms across the country for computational science courses.

She has recently served as Associate Director of the Northwest Alliance for Computational Science and Engineering, a research center at Oregon State University.

Significant past experience has involved leading software engineers at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in efforts working with atmospheric scientists on program code optimization, HPC code porting issues, visualization development, high performance tool availability, and usability on a variety of harware and software platforms.

For many years, Haerer has been involved with several High Performance Computing (HPC) organizations:

CUG is an international, independent organization of member institutions that use Cray computer systems with emphasis on high performance computing and visualization. She has served in the following capacities: SC is the premier conference on High Performance Computing & Networking. She has served on the SC-Series Steering Committee (elected to a 4-year term in 1998) and on individual conference executive planning committees in the following capacities:
