Kerstin will survey the challenges and promises of studying single biomolecule kinetics with fluorescence microscopy techniques, giving several examples from her own work. The talk will motivate the need for faster detection schemes that work in the presence of high background concentrations of biomolecules. These detection schemes are an area of collaboration between Kerstin's group and the nanoelectronics group at OSU.
