About the department
Opportunities abound! The Department of Physics at Oregon State University has an active graduate-level research program [4] and offers degree programs leading to Ph.D., M. S., B. S., and B.A. degrees in physics (within the College of Science [5]), and the B. S. degree in engineering physics (within the College of Engineering [6] ).
Many options within the physics degree are available, and we also offer a minor in physics. Our interdisciplinary degree in computational physics [7] is receiving national recognition as a model program.
Our undergraduate program provides a modern approach to physics and a variety of interactive class formats. “Paradigms in Physics” [8], the junior year sequence, is a series of nine, 3-week courses, based on central concepts in physics. “Capstones in Physics” is the senior-year program, designed to help students consolidate, broaden, and deepen their understanding of the subjects introduced in the junior-year.
Located in the uniquely livable city of Corvallis [9], the Department of Physics at Oregon State University is a great choice for research, education and lifestyle.
More information about our graduate programs [10] and undergraduate programs [11] is on this web site.
