Ph211    General Physics with Calculus – Mechanics

Physics Department, Oregon State University

Summer 2008 term

This is the first course in the calculus-based general physics sequence. Main topics and concepts covered are Newton's Laws and gravitation, potentials, work and power, energy and momentum conservation; a number of other principles and details of physical behavior are discussed. The ability to solve problems effectively is critical for attaining understanding of physical principles and laws; to support the development of necessary problem-solving skills in physics, the material is mostly introduced and developed through examples. Please note that the distribuition of the material in the whole sequence has changed recently, and that this course now covers slightly different material.

The FINAL EXAM is on Aug 15th (Friday), at 2 pm, in Owen 102.

Our MIDTERM is on Aug 4th (Monday), at 12 noon, in Owen 101.
(It is held at the time and place of a regular class, instead of it.)

Update: Summer 2008 class will be meeting in Owen 101.
