Abstract:

With current experimental techniques, it is still very difficult to monitor a biological process occurring at nanoscale. Molecular dynamics simulation can be used as a computational microscope to image such process and to study physics behind it. I will focus on two research areas, biosensing and mechanobiology. My immediate research projects include nanopore-based biological sensors, nano-mechanics of DNA and molecular mechanism of a protein molecule (a nanomachine built by nature). In future, I would like to learn from nature and investigate the design of a biomimetic human-made nanomachine. Besides atomistic simulation, I will use theoretical modeling to understand results from simulation or experiment.
