Abstract

The globalization of economy results in an increasing demand on engineers and scientists who are able to work effectively under the circumstances of different countries and cultures; the emergence of China as a major global player will be a striking example in that respect. It is the intention of the masters program AIMS – Analytic Instruments, Measurement- and Sensor-Technology – to provide such intercultural skills together with a thorough continuing education in the above subjects of widespread importance.
In cooperation with our partner university USST (University of Shanghai for Science and Technology), the lectures will take place in China and in Germany for one semester, respectively, followed by an industrial internship at partner companies in one of these countries and a final semester at a research institute or a company, in which the master thesis will be prepared. The program is open for well-qualified graduates from all countries of the world – in the moment students from Europe, China, India and the Middle East are enrolled. Although all lectures are given in English, language training in Mandarin and/or German will be accessible. For students from U.S. a rather unique chance to collect experiences in two cultures – Europe and China – within one program is offered.
In this talk, further details of this program – including admission criteria and procedures, tuition fees, costs of living and possibilities to earn incomes, as well as deeper insights in the courses, workshops and summer schools will be provided. There will also be an opportunity to discuss additional questions individually after the talk.
