NWAPS Presentation Instructions

Oral presentations:

  • Set laptop resolution to 1024x768 and 60Hz ahead of time
  • PC laptop mirroring: usually a combination of the Fn-key and a F-key.
  • Mac-users, please bring adapter
  • Mac laptops mirroring:
    • If the program doesn't mirror automatically then go into “System Preferences,” then “Displays,” and select “Detect Displays.”
    • If that doesn’t work then go into the “Arrangement” tab and check the box for “Mirroring.”
  • Conference computers are running Office 2007
  • If you bring a removable drive, please let student helpers know ahead of time
  • If you use other devices, please test ahead of time

Poster presentations:

  • Poster size is 4 by 4 feet
  • Poster should be in assigned area

Instructions for session chairs

  • Each room will have a student helper for setting up laptops
  • Laptops should be connected during QandA time
  • When laptop is connected, activate via switch box
  • Timing is done using good old stop-watches
  • Give presenter a 2 minute warning
  • Short talks are 10 minutes plus 2 minutes QandA
  • Invited talks are 30 minutes plus 6 minutes QandA
  • Everybody, try to stay on time
  • Laser pointer is on podium
